A Guide on Using Picasa with iPhoto
Several Mac owners do not prefer using Picasa with iPhoto. The Picasa Web Albums is ideally utilized with the Picasa desktop application which is free for download. However, the OSX is already bundled with iPhoto, a similar photo organization software by Apple. Downloading Picasa when you already have iPhoto can be somewhat redundant as it is unnecessary to maintain two photo organization software. What’s great is that you can still upload on Picasa with iPhoto without using its desktop application, via the Picasa Web Albums Uploader for Mac. This article will demonstrate how to do this.
The first thing that you have to do to utilize Picasa with iPhoto is install the Picasa Web Albums Uploader for Mac. It is available in the Mac section of Google. After installing the software, you may now synchronize your iPhoto with Picasa. To upload pictures from iPhoto to Picasa, select an album, click the “Share” tab, and press the “Export” button. Then, go to the “Picasa Web” tab and choose whether you want to put the photos in a new album or an existing album. Then type in a name for the album (if you selected to upload them in a new album) and choose the privacy setting for the pictures you are uploading. Finally, hit the “Export” button to initiate the upload.
Once the upload is complete, you may now browse the pictures from your iPhoto in your Picasa Web Albums account. After that, your friends can also check out these photos if you give them the link to your album. You may also tag people to your photos, add captions, or add a location.
You can also utilize the Picasa Web Albums Uploader for Mac to save entire albums from Picasa to your computer so that you can add them to your iPhoto database. This is useful as it further enhance the compatibility of Picasa with iPhoto.
Keep in mind though that you will need to have the OSX version 10.4 or higher in order to use the Picasa Web Albums Uploader. Furthermore, the uploader can be used with previous versions of the iPhoto as early as iPhoto 4.
