After installing the Picasa desktop application, you may now do a Picasa download. The first method is by browsing in the Picasa Web Albums website. Just go to the album that you intend to download in your computer. Then press “Download” on the menu on the top of the thumbnails of pictures in the album page and choose “Download to Picasa”.

You may have to confirm to your browser that you really intend to launch the Picasa application. Another confirmation box from Picasa will ask you if you really want to download the album to your computer. Hit the “Download” button to commence the download.

Another means of doing Picasa download is through the app itself. Start the Picasa desktop app and go to “File” then select “Import from Picasa Web Albums”. You will then need to login to your Google account so that it can get info from Picasa Web Albums. Then a dialog box will show all the albums in your account that are available for download. Select the albums that you like to download and press the “OK” button to start the download. Even though this method only lets you download albums from your account, what is useful about it is that it will not download photos that are already present in your computer so that you do not get duplicate files.
